Newport has found its next head football coach, and it is an alum and former assistant with the program in Drew Oliver.
Oliver returns to Newport, where he was also formerly a teacher, after spending time as the head coach at 3A Hazen.
“He is a man if great character and we are excited about the next chapter in Newport football,” athletic director Gill James said in an email.
Oliver replaces Mike Miller, who spent the past 10 seasons at the helm before stepping down.
