The Knights can wrap up a trip back to the 4A state tournament with a win against Bothell, while Bellevue is in the district tournament.

Newport sweeps Roosevelt, set to host Bothell for state berth

Newport is one win from a spot in the 4A state volleyball tournament after taking care of Roosevelt 3-0 in the opening round of the conference tournament Saturday.

The Knights picked up the sweep to move to Tuesday’s semi-finals at home against Bothell in a 7 p.m. start with the winner heading to the title game and earning a trip to state in the process.

The Cougars beat Ballard 3-1 in another first round match. Eastlake and Skyline, both winners on Saturday, will meet at Skyline for the other spot in the title match.

Bellevue headed to Sea-King tourney

Bellevue swept Liberty 3-0 before dropping matches against Juanita and Mercer Island in the 3A KingCo volleyball tournament, and is set to take its place in the Sea-King district tournament Thursday in a loser-out match against Ingraham at Chief Sealth High School in a 5:30 p.m. start.

The winner will face Eastside Catholic for a spot in the semi-finals later in the evening.

Interlake’s season ends

Interlake was unable to get past Juanita in its KingCo tournament matchup, falling in four games to the Rebels to finish the season.

Julia Regalia had 23 assists and five kills, Kendall Davis finished with 19 digs for the Saints in the loss and Erin Brown had a team high 10 kills.
