Bellevue Christian’s boys team finished in third place at the 1A state track and field meet at Eastern Washington University last weekend, bolstered by a state title in the 800 meters by Daniel Nortz.
Nortz, the top qualifier in the event, had perhaps the most memorable finish of the entire meet, sneaking out a win in the 800 over Logan Owens of Riverside at the line.
Owens, believing the race was won, began his celebration prematurely, allowing Nortz to lunge past him for a photo finish.
Nortz won with a time of 1:58.56, just five-hundredths of a second in front of Owens.
Razor and Nortz also helped BCS to a sixth place finish in the 1600 meter relay along with Kyle Smit and Christopher Hoffman.
Tate Razor was sixth in the 400 for Bellevue Christian in a time of 52.06 and Patrick LeClair was a finalist in the triple jump for the Vikings.
Scott Miller won the discus throw with a mark of 163-08, and finished sixth in the shot put at 50-03. He ended his meet in fifth place in the javelin as well.
On the girls side, Courtney Porter was second in the 100 meter hurdles in her first prep meet, finishing in 15.64. She earned the same finish in the 300 hurdles in a time of 45.92.
BCS finished in third place on the boys side, the girls finished in 14th.
