Prep football state rankings

Eastlake, Bellevue and Lynden remain at the top of this week's rankings.

Eastlake’s win over Skyline solidifies things at the top and sends the Spartans to an unfamiliar setting at the bottom of the 4A rankings. The 4A KingCo title game should be a great one on Thursday at Pop Keeney with a pair of undefeated division champs looking to prove the conference is as strong as ever and again boasts a top-line state title contender.

In 3A, everyone is just waiting for the epic Bellevue-Lakes matchup in the state quarterfinals…wait, what? That’s right, the consensus top-two teams in the 3A rankings will not meet in the Tacoma Dome for the semi-finals as they did last year, or for a state championship as most believe they should, but instead for a semi-final berth.

2A looks to be exceptionally balanced and my guess is at least a few teams are going to get upset early on. From a local perspective, it will be interesting to see how far Interlake can go after reeling off three straight league wins heading into Friday’s regular season finale with Juanita.
