Redmond’s KingCo golf streak lives on after six-stroke win over Newport

Alicia Bies shot a match-low 40 on Monday at Newcastle Golf Club and teammate Kelly Kennewick came in at 41 to lead the Mustangs to victory and run their incredible regular season winning-streak to 85 and ensure it will remain intact until 2012.

Redmond won the team scoring by six strokes, 210-216 and put their incredible depth on display with their lowest scorer actually playing in the number seven spot. The 210 team score is the lowest ever recorded for a girls golf team at Newcastle.

Newport’s Isabel Chien, who arrived at the course from an AP Physics exam just in time to tee-off, shot a 42 and was matched by Hannah Christian for the two lowest scores of the day for the Knights.

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday at the 4A KingCo Medalist Tournament at Mount Si Golf Course. Each team in the league will match their top six golfers (who must have shot 60 or lower at least once this season) with half of the field advancing to the Sea-King District tournament at Snohomish Golf Course.
