Saints win third straight, Wolverines roll over Mount Si | Prep football roundup

Bellevue scored 35 unanswered points to overwhelm Mount Si while Jordan Todd and the Saints got another win.

Interlake erased any doubt about earning a 2A playoff berth on Friday, defeating Liberty 33-28 for its third straight win. Jordan Todd finished with 241 yards on the ground and two scores on 25 carries and also took a second half kickoff 85 yards for a score.

Coach Jason Rimkus called it “a great team win”, saying “It took every one of our kids to pull it off.”

The game was tied 14-14 at halftime before Interlake extended the lead to 13 points after the third quarter and held off a late push from the Patriots. The Saints will face Juanita next week before beginning the playoffs a week later.

Bellevue trailed 3-0 to Mount Si before scoring 35 unanswered points on rushing touchdowns from Joey Moore, Ari Morales and Andy Boulware and a scoring toss from senior quarterback Tyler Hasty to Nathan DeRider.

The Wolverines’ defense came up with three fourth down stops of the Wildcats and Devin Murphy came up with a crucial first half interception. Bellevue remains undefeated and will face Liberty at home next week in the regular season finale. Coach Butch Goncharoff’s squad also locked up the 3A KingCo title and the top seed from the conference for the play-in round of 32 in two weeks.

Newport was defeated by Issaquah 41-28. The Knights led early on a touchdown run from Isaac Dotson, but watched as Jack Gellatly and Reed Peterson alternated on trips to the endzone on the next five scores to help the Eagles run away and hide. Dotson added another rushing score in the third two more in the fourth. Newport will face Bothell, which it defeated 28-24 back in September, next week in the 4A KingCo crossover round. The winner will move to the state play-in round the following week.
