Sammamish Lacrosse Club falls to Woodinville in D-II title game, Bellevue ousted by Islanders in D-I semis | Boys Lacrosse

Update | Woodinville stops Sammamish for D-II lacrosse title

Sammamish fell 10-7 to Woodinville on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Seattle for the boys D-II lacrosse title.

The win caps off a perfect season for Woodinville and means Sammamish will finish with a record of 19-2.

Mercer Island captured the Division I title by beating Bainbridge.

Only one game remains for the Sammamish Lacrosse Club. And it’s The Big One.

SLC defeated Blanchet on Wednesday by a final score of 16-4 in the D-II semi-finals to secure a spot in the boys Division II state title match, which will take place on May 28 at Memorial Stadium in Seattle.

That win sets up a heavyweight D-II clash in the final, with unbeaten Woodinville (17-0) awaiting once-beaten SLC (16-1).

Nine players scored in the win for Sammamish in their win over Blanchet, with Brian Headland, Neil Hones, Copper Horton and Riley Martin each checking-in with a pair of goals each while Tyvan Schmidt and Tyler Wright both picked up hat-tricks. SLC led 4-1 after the first period and offset even scores in each of the two middle periods with a 9-0 advantage in the fourth.

Islanders prevail 9-5, end season for Bellevue

Bellevue fell to Mercer Island 9-5 in the Division I boys lacrosse semi-finals on Wednesday at Mercer Island High School, ending the Wolverines’ season and sending the host Islanders to the title game.

Bellevue, which finished the regular season 14-4 and took down Lake Tapps and Curtis in the playoffs, matched Mercer Island’s effort in the first and third periods, but was outscored by two goals in both the second and fourth frames.

Mercer Island, which Bellevue beat in last season’s title match, has now reached the final game of the Division I playoffs in 10 of the past eleven years. They will face undefeated Bainbridge Island, which defeated Issaquah in the other semi-final. The Division I title match will follow Sammamish and Woodinville in the D-II final and is slated to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. May 28 at Seattle Memorial Stadium.
