The Totems pounded out 15 hits and scored 25 runs in a 25-1 blowout win over Hazen on March 18.
Emily McKaig, a junior infielder, went 2 for 3 with a double and a grand slam to lead the Totems (1-0) offense in the win.
Freshman Allyson Brown took the win for Sammamish, going four innings and striking out six.
It was the first win for new Totems coach Jessica Cabales, who had been an assistant coach with the Totems from 1998-2005 and again last season.
“After a rebuilding year last year, we are looking forward to a strong season,” Cabales said. “I have high expectations for this team and I believe that we possess the tools to meet those expectations.”
The Totems continued their roll on Saturday, knocking off Seattle Prep 15-0. McKaig picked up the win, going five innings and striking out 10. Van Zandt knocked in seven runs, going four for four and hitting for the cycle.
