Bellevue Bulldogs sophomore Dominique Jordan may be his team’s leading scorer, but he is anything but selfish on the basketball court.
Jordan, who averages a team-high 17.2 points per game for the Bellevue College team, has helped guide his squad to a 13-2 record thus far.
“Dom has been a great leader for us. He plays both the 1 (point guard) and the 2 (shooting guard). We got a small team this year and we like to spread things out and attack. Dom is very hard to guard,” Bulldogs head coach Jeremy Eggers said. “He is very good offensively and is almost too unselfish at times. I wish he would shoot the ball more.”
Jordan doesn’t need a plethora of shot attempts in order to control the game.
“Dom brings a stability to our team and he doesn’t turn the ball over a lot. He makes good decisions and is a team first guy. Ultimately the kid just competes,” Eggers said. “We have a number of guys on the team who are competitors. That is the reason why we are 13-2. We have guys who compete every day in practice and in games. I love those kind of players.”
Jordan said the Bulldogs don’t feel any pressure despite winning 13 of their first 15 contests.
“We’re going to keep playing our game. We’re going to work hard every day and keep getting better so we can get that NWAC (Northwest Athletic Conference) title,” Jordan said.
Eggers, who has been the head coach of the Bulldogs for the past 12 seasons, is the kind of coach who focuses intensely on the defensive end of the floor.
“I really like Eggers as a coach. He is a really good person and we play really hard defense. That’s pretty much the reason why I came here,” Jordan said.
Recently, the Bellevue Reporter had an opportunity to ask Jordan a few questions about his life away from the basketball court.
Bellevue Reporter: What is your favorite restaurant in Bellevue?
Dominique Jordan: It would have to be “The Cheesecake Factory.” I love that place. I usually get the Calamari there. It is really good.
BR: What is your biggest pet peeve?
DJ: I hate it when people are late and not on time.
BR: What is something unique about you that nobody would know?
DJ: I’m a very outgoing person. Most people wouldn’t know that because I don’t really talk a lot.
BR: What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
DJ: The Hunger Games. I didn’t like it very much. I actually left the theater early.
BR: If you could pick person to go to dinner with, who would it be?
