Liberty stuns Newport, knocks Knights out of top spot
Seventh-place Liberty stunned Newport 2-1 on Tuesday, April 22 to knock the Knights out of KingCo 3A’s top spot with a win at home.
Things looked good for the Knights early as Michael Green scored off an assist from Curtis Stensland in the 15th minute to give Newport (8-3-2) a 1-0 lead.
But Liberty countered with a tying goal from Mark Loreen in the 34th minute. Dylan Wallace broke the 1-1 tie when he scored in the 54th minute to give the Patriots (3-10-1) the win.
Bellevue 6, Issaquah 1
The Wolverines turned in a dominating performance, defeating Issaquah 6-1 and taking over first place in KingCo 3A.
Viktor Drangnell and Taylor Young were all the offense Bellevue needed, as the pair each scored a hat trick for the Wolverines (9-3-1). Michael Axelson scored the only goal for Issaquah (2-9-2).
Sammamish 4,
Interlake 2
Four different Totems scored goals as Sammamish doubled up Interlake 4-2 at home.
Jose Gomez, Brian Biccum, Jonathan Matson and Muhammed Idris all scored for Sammamish (8-2-3).
John Northey and Jordan Con scored for Interlake (1-11-2).
