Taber is a senior leader in the pool

Bellevue girls water polo team currently has an overall record of 13-8

Team camaraderie and togetherness have been the staples of the Bellevue Wolverines girls water polo team over the past decade.

Bellevue senior Alexis Taber, who is in her fourth season as a varsity player, considers her teammates in the pool family.

“These people are so great. I love them. Trusting my teammates is very important to me. I have known most of these girls for four years. Even if we get mad at each other, we are still best friends and do a lot of fun things together. That is my favorite part,” Taber said. “There is a lot more bonding on this team than on other teams. Even though you’re competing against each other to make varsity or what not, it is still a team sport and you still love each other. We all want to get better for each other and ourselves. That is the best.”

The Wolverines captured 11th place at the state tournament in 2014 and finished in seventh place last season.

“We have been steadily improving,” Taber said. “We want to go to state (tournament) and finish in the top four.”

Recently, the Bellevue Reporter had an opportunity to ask Taber a few questions about her life away from the world of water polo.
