Sammamish girls basketball coach Loren Tillman resigned from the program last week in the midst of his second season at the helm, citing personal reasons.
The move came late last week according to athletic director Pat McCarthy. The Reporter published a feature story on the turnaround the program has experienced during his time there in its January 25 print edition detailing the story behind the past two seasons, including the program’s first KingCo win in its last 110 tries earlier this year.
Athletic director Pat McCarthy said assistant coach Mike Schick will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the year.
“He was doing a good job and the program was moving forward,” McCarthy said of Tillman. “It was an unfortunate situation.”
Tillman, when reached by email, said a number of recent developments in his personal life would not allowed him to continue dedicating the time he wished to the program.
“I truly love basketball and loved coaching the girls,” he said. “I am so proud of each and every one of the girls that have been a part of the program these last two seasons.”
