Totems retake Crossroads Cup

For the first time since 2006, the Crossroads Cup is going back to Sammamish.

The Totems, which have been pining for a KingCo win since 2011, finally broke through last night, beating rival Interlake 21-7 to get their first victory of the year and take back the trophy between the two Bellevue rivals after a string of lopsided defeats in the series.

Sammamish led 14-0 before the Saints got on the board and put up another score to finish off the win, avenging a 28-0 loss last year and keeping their rivals winless in the process.

Interlake travels to Juanita to finish the regular season next week, while the Totems will end their slate with 2A Lake Washington and have the chance to even their league record with the Kangs and take the district’s 2A playoff berth in the process.

Bellevue rolls on, moves win streak to record territory

It was more of the same for Bellevue in a 38-7 win over Liberty, keeping their record perfect and pushing their now state-record tying win streak to 48 games.

The Wolverines led 31-0 at the half behind three Max Richmond touchdowns before cruising to the win.

Only a game with Mercer Island remains before the playoffs, where Bellevue will take a top seed to the round of 32.

Newport thrashes Garfield, set for crossover round

The Knights got back on track after a loss to Skyline last week, taking care of Garfield 42-6 to take the third seed from the Crown to next week’s KingCo Crossover game.

Woodinville, the third seed from the Crest and a team Newport beat 42-9 in late September will be up next with a spot in the round of 32 on the line.
