Interlake, Sammamish and Newport got the basketball season underway on Tuesday.

Girls basketball

Interlake trailed by 21 points at the half to visiting Granite Falls, losing 60-48 in the season opener.

Tigers’ senior Peyton Spencer led all scorers with 24 points and Elizabeth Matalomani finished with 12.

Marta and Cate Mueller led the Saints with 10 and 13 points respectively in the loss.

Boys basketball

Sammamish opened the season with a win over cross-town foe Newport, 92-83.

The Totems built a 12 point lead at the half and then held off a fourth-quarter rally from the Knights.
