The Northwest WakeSurf Association (NWWSA) will hold its annual NW WakeSurf Competition, to be held July 30 to August 1 at the Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah.
The event kicks off Friday with practice runs for registered competitors behind 2010 Centurion Enzo SV240 boats, the official compeition boats provided by Northwest Watersports. The competition will be held Saturday and Sunday and will conclude Sunday afternoon with an award ceremony.
There will also be several social events during the competition, including a barbecue at the home of Inland Surfer founders Jeff and Deb Page.
“We’re so excited for our second annual competition,” said NWWSA president Grace Han Stanton in a press release. “Last year we had over 55 riders, 400 in-person spectators and over 1,000 online spectators watching on Wake9.com. This year, we are increasing our competitor slots by adding an additional half-day of competition and are looking forward to seeing all of the talented riders, including James Walker, Dominic Lagace, Caroline Villeneuve, Keenan Flegals and others.”
Competitor openings are limited and all interested riders are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible at www.nwwsa.org.
Prizes will be awarded in each division and for the best trick in the Open division. Each registered competitor will also receive entry to the barbecue and a black Bakoda daypack from Northwave.
“We’ve seen the sport grow tremendously over the decade,” said Jeff Page. “It’s nice to have organizations like NWWSA and the riders, individuals, volunteers and organizations contribute to the growth of the sport.”
