Wolverines capture regular season KingCo championship

The Bellevue Wolverines ground out a hard-fought 1-0 win against the Mercer Island Islanders on Oct. 30 in Bellevue. The Wolverines clinched the Class 3A KingCo regular season championship with the victory. Bellevue’s Anastasia Justus scored the lone goal of the game in the 70th minute of play.

CROSS COUNTRY

Wolverines collect second place finish at districts

The Bellevue Wolverines girls Cross Country squad finished in second place with 83 team points at the Class 3A SeaKing Bi-District Championships on Oct. 31 at Lake Sammamish State Park. Ballard finished in first place with 69 points (low score wins in Cross Country). Katherine Penner cruised to a second place individual finish with a time of 18:58.98. Camille Moore finished in 10th place with a time of 19:59.14.

VOLLEYBALL

Newport nabs KingCo title

The Newport Knights cruised to a 3-0 win against the Issaquah Eagles on Oct. 28 at Newport High School in Factoria. The Knights (12-3) clinched the Class 4A KingCo regular season championship with the victory.

Interlake defeats Bellevue in KingCo tournament match

The Interlake Saints clinched a berth to the Class 3A Sea-King district tournament with a 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21) win against Bellevue on Oct. 31 in the Class 3A KingCo tournament. Interlake senior Courtney Johnson had 29 digs and Jamie Wagner added 20 digs. Erin Brown finished with a team-high 13 kills and Wagner added 11 kills in the win. Nicole Kramer had seven kills, Billie Harvey and Marie McHenry combined for 36 assists as well. Harvey also recorded eight kills and five blocks.

The Saints will face Garfield in the first round of the Sea-King district tourney on Nov. 5.

FOOTBALL

Winning streak continues for Bellevue on the gridiron

The Bellevue Wolverines won their seventh consecutive game courtesy of a 45-3 win against Lake Washington on Oct. 30 in Bellevue. The Wolverines (7-1) will host Ferndale in a winner-to-state, loser-out playoff game at 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 at Bellevue High School.

Cascade Christian defeats Bellevue Christian Vikings

In a showdown between private schools, the Cascade Christian Cougars rolled to a 40-6 victory against the Bellevue Christian Vikings on Oct. 31 in Bellevue. The Vikings (4-5) will face Port Townsend at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 in Port Townsend.

Falcons defeat Knights

The Woodinville Falcons defeated the Newport Knights 21-7 on Oct. 30 at Newport High School in Factoria. Newport dropped to 2-7 overall with the loss. The Knights will face the Hazen Highlanders at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6 at Renton Memorial Stadium in downtown Renton.
