Wolverines upended in battle for 3A KingCo supremacy

Bellevue, winners of their past six baseball games, squared off with the last team to beat them on Wednesday when the Mount Si Wildcats brought their unscathed 3A KingCo mark to Bellevue High School.

Things went mostly to plan for the Wolverines in the first, as starting pitcher Drew Quinlin shut down the visitors from Snoqualmie in the top of the first and watched as his team put up the first run of the game in the bottom half to give Bellevue a 1-0 lead.

But the league leaders showed why they have yet to fall to a conference foe yet this year, posting eight runs in the next two innings and scoring in each remaining frame to earn a decisive 13-3 win in five innings. Quinlin took the loss for Bellevue, who will next face Interlake on Friday at Bellevue High School.

Kangs hold down Totems

Sammamish tried again in vain to find the winning formula they used in the beginning of the season, losing to Lake Washington by a final score of 5-2 on Wednesday. The Totems will play one of two remaining home games on Friday when the Rebels from Juanita travel to SHS for a 4 p.m. first pitch.

Three errors doom Vikings

Seattle Lutheran took advantage of three Vikings’ errors, winning by a final score of 7-4 on Wednesday. Matt Haller was tagged with the loss after going five innings and a third. Dewald DeKlerk was 2-3 with a homerun and two RBI for the Vikings in the loss.

Bellevue Christian, now 4-7 on the year, will next meet Rainier on Thursday at Rainier High School.

Savette’s two goals power Knights past Bainbridge Island

Kyle Savette scored two unassisted goals, the second coming in the 74th minute of the game to give his team a 3-2 win over Bainbridge Island on Wednesday at Newport High School. Newport will welcome Redmond in for a 4A KingCo match-up on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
